What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

 From taking media and doing research i found that an  media institution is a company that owns large numbers of companies in various mass media such as television, radio, publishing, movie and the internet. The institution disperses the product or production for audience consumption. 

As my production is a film an Institution company would disperse it to the cinema which could be either national or international. Then following on from this it would then be dispersed to be sold in shops as a DVD it may also be dispersed to television.

After doing research into different institutions I found that some of the large distributors are BBC, The UK Film Council, Film Four, Vertigo films and Warner bro's. However as these are all large Institutions they specialise in popular films with a high budget that are premiered worldwide. I decided none of these institutions would be right for my production and this is because my thriller is low budget and would not be known so therefore wouldn't be as popular and I also wouldn't be able to afford to distribute my thriller. I then did some research into more institution companies to find the best one for my production. I looked into the institution Film Tank, which is a UK based company however found that this company mainly broadcasts work such as documentary's. Finger cuff productions is also a UK based company but specialises in short films therefore is most likely not the best institution for my thriller film. 
I decided to choose the institution Hammer film productions as a possibility for my film as it is a British film production based in London. The company is best known for a series of Gothic horror films. It produces science Fictions, thrillers and comedies. It has also produced popular films such as let me in, the resident and the women in black. 
Another institution company that may could be suitable for my media product is Revolver entertainment. Although this is an american based company it could be a good company to distribute my production as its an independent distributor which specialises in Thriller films. This would mean i would be able to afford to distribute my film.
